What equipment will I need to take this class?

＋ a camera that allows video shooting.
＋ a computer to watch the lessons and edit your videos.
＋ lightroom for photo edits.
＋ video editing software. I will be teaching in the free video editing app, Capcut. (window and mac compatible)

＋ everything else is optional and dependent on the style of videos you wish to create.

Do I have to be a professional photographer to take this course?

Absolutely not. If you have a camera and a desire to elevate your visual storytelling with cohesive photos and films this class is perfect for you.

Will this course focus on mobile or 'big camera' film and photography?

I will be using my Nikon for most of the lessons. However, we will review the settings and setup for shooting video with your mobile phone. We will also explore mixing mobile video with your 'big camera' photos.

Can I use my mobile phone for the video?

Yes!!
In fact, I will be teaching a hybrid shooting framework that utilizes your 'big camera' for the photos and your mobile phone for the video.

I've never used Lightroom. Can I take this class?

A basic understanding of Lightroom is required.

Do I have to buy video editing software?

I will be teaching the video editing lessons using the free desktop application Capcut. It's both windows and mac compatible.

Will you teach me how to edit from scratch or do I need to use presets?

For a cohesive look between photos and films, I will be using custom presets and luts. Alternatively, you could edit with the develop sliders in Lightroom and Capcut.

Can I use my mobile phone or tablet to edit video?

I will be focusing on desktop editing in this course.
But I will share a few mobile apps you could use. Including one that supports custom LUTs.

I'm not a stylist or still life photographer. Can I still learn from this class?

Absolutely.
The techniques apply to all styles of video.
